The French are well-known for their impeccable sense of style so it’s only right that their timeless take on fashion is followed.
My love affair with Paris began when I was little, one trip up the Seine and a view of the Eiffel Tower lit up in the evening was all I needed to become officially hooked.
But whether there’s a city break on the horizon or not I still enjoy bringing Parisian influences into my outfits, especially when it comes to my accessories.
Clothing-wise tailored jackets or chic little black dresses instantly transport me across the Channel, but it’s statement jewellery which is the most fun to try.
Here are some of my top French trends to try at home.
French fashion is tirelessly feminine, with fluid shapes contradicted with straight cut fits to create a staple smart casual look.
While, not known for their over-accessorising, one detail I associate with the country has to be bows.
Super pretty and girly, while also quite a bold shape, they make great jewellery options.
For inspiration why not take a peek through Rue B’s Bows collection? It’s filled with gorgeous designs in timeless shades to help add a little je ne sais quoi.
I really love trying more subtle options every now and then and I think these black enamel bow stud earrings are exactly right for this trend.
They might only be small, but with their gold finish and crystal glass stone details they appear luxurious and beautifully understated.
High fashion finds
France seems to have created more world famous fashion designers than anywhere else in the world and Paris Fashion Week is synonymous for generating dynamic new trends and themes.
It’s not realistic to try and dress like haute couture catwalk models during the day but you can take inspiration from the bold use of shapes and shades on offer.
During the autumn-winter 2013 show I noticed that cuffs seemed to be ridiculously popular and now that the season has finally arrived I guess I better start wearing one!
This stunning monochrome crystal and black stone cuff from Rue B has both antique hematite metal and dazzling flower detail adorning it, plus with its large size it’s an instant talking piece whatever I’m wearing.
Fashion needn’t be serious though girls so don’t be afraid to have a little fun either.
I’m also a big fan of these cute black bow ribbon earrings with silver shoe charms dangling from each of them, while also covered in crystal glass stones.
Nothing says high fashion like high-heeled earrings!
As one of the romantic places on the planet Paris is shrouded in famous imagery, from its historical landmarks to its cultured locals.
One way to work a little of this famous romance into your look is to capture it in the form of accessories.
Take these black bow ribbon dangly earrings for instance, they couldn’t evoke any more Parisian style if they tried due to their delicate silver Eiffel Tower charms dangling down.
I may not be able to go to Paris right now but I can certainly capture some of its magic!
