If you only buy one item to update your jewellery this season, make it a collar. They’ve been gaining prominence on the high street all year and in A/W12 collars will be huge. It’s not hard to see why- collars are the perfect way to add edge to your outfit or to glam up a plain old tee. Incredibly versatile, easy to wear- it’s amazing that the high street hasn’t taken notice of them sooner!
At Rue B, we have a range of styles to suit all tastes, from chunky studded collars to more delicate filigree designs. A perfect gift for the jewellery lover in your life this christmas!
This weeks X-Factor live shows brought us plenty of fashion creativity, from the disco themed outfits of the contestants to the jewel colours worn by the judges Tulisa and Nicole. but what really stood out to us at Rue B were Nicole’s statement earring and necklace combo.
Nicole shows with style that it doesn’t have to be difficult to wear both bold colours and jewellery. The key is to stuck to one predominant colour and keep designs classic and elegant. the jewellery might have been super-sized but it definitely wasn’t over the top. You don’t have to break the bank to make this style work for you- be inspired by Nicole and take a look at some of our metallic statement jewellery.
The S/S 2013 Catwalks were full of bold and imaginative designs and prints.Patternbank has a great sum up of the new takes on old favourites. Checks will be paired with florals, geometrics are fractured and prints as we know them from the previous years are abstracted, as the lines between them blur.
What does this mean for jewellery? When the focus is so much on the bold clothes it would be easy to say that adding jewellery is unnecessary. But if like us you feel naked without a little jewellery we’re here to help you choose what to wear with whatever print you choose.
The simplest solution is to avoid necklaces as they become lost. Instead, focus on the small details like geometric rings and earrings. Or take note of the oversized jewellery trend and wear a chunky cuff.
The important thing is to take inspiration from the clothes themselves; decide whether you want to accentuate a certain colour or detail, or if you want to wear a plainer silver or black piece of jewellery so as not to detract from your outfit. Have fun with it!
Can’t decide between silver and gold? Well here’s a tip from us at Rue B- now you don’t have to! We have a great range of jewellery that incorporates a variety of metal tones suiting all styles and personalities.
Go geometric with these dainty triangle stud earrings:
Why not channel the winter florals with this gold and silver statement necklace, and hit two trends in one?
Or instead of making a statement, use your jewellery as a smaller detail of your outfit as a whole. A simple bracelet like the one below is perfect:
This year, the models on the A/W 2012 catwalks were covered with pearls, and no wonder. pearls are a timeless addition to any woman’s jewellery collection, whether she wants to make a bold or simple statement. Pearls are the epitome of elegance and can never be overstated.
